This event will occur rain or shine.
CCAS club president Aurora Lipper together with NASA Solar System Ambassador/CCAS club member Brian P. Cox will take you on a tour of the night sky.
Brian will share live telescope views and will provide a briefing on a NASA’s Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog (CHAPEA) project, a one year closed habitat to simulate a Mars mission.
Telescope targets for this event:
- Globular Cluster M92 (NGC 6341) in Hercules
- Globular Cluster M15 (NGC 7078) in Pegasus – only known globular cluster to contain a planetary nebula (Pease 1)
- Eagle Nebula (M16, NGC 6611)
- Dumbbell Nebula (M27, NGC 6853)
As part of the presentation, the team will show you how to use Star Charts to help you navigate and find objects. You can download your sky map free here:

During our time together, you’ll be able to interact with the team, ask questions, and gain insight on objects to search for as you take your star gazing to the next level. It will be like watching a planetarium star show only from your computer screen!
Be sure to invite all your friends – we can accommodate thousands of people!
